Every visit includes a full inspection in accordance with the NFPA 211. This inspection is one of our main differentiators from all the other chimney and fireplace companies in the Treasure Valley. It's also the reason why our visits take around 2 hours from beginning to end. This is a very intense and time consuming inspection, but for good reason. If we were to just show up and sweep your chimney, we would have no idea if in fact you are good to use your appliance in the future. We are here to serve you, and keep you and probably your biggest investment, as safe as possible. Let us take a deep look into your chimney and appliance and give you the results of our findings. You can then do what you would like with our findings. We are NOT the chimney police. Our final report given to you is merely information and suggestions from a certified professional, to you, the home owner.
*At the moment, we are not servicing Gas Fireplaces or Pellet Stoves*
*First time clients with us require a Level 2 inspection.
* If we just did a sweeping and no inspection, we would be doing a disservice to you and give a false impression that your system is safe to use without really knowing*
*We do not offer free estimates. To ensure the quality of work and to know exactly what we are dealing with, an inspection must be completed. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions about this.*
*Pricing below is per fireplace. Additional fireplaces/chimney flues are inspected and swept at a discounted rate of $149 each*
If this is your first inspection/sweep with us, we need to do this in-depth inspection. Level 2 inspections are also required with: Sale or transfer of property, change of system, operation malfunction, or any sort of damage due to Chimney fires or weather events. It's also a great idea to have a Level 2 inspection if the system hasn't been used in a while.
*Level 2 inspection and a Sweeping
*Level 2 Inspections include everything in a Level 1 inspection plus a lot more. It includes a more in-depth look at the chimney structure, chimney cap, crown, mortar, flashing, flue liner, smoke chamber, damper and much more.
*Price includes Inspection of one chimney and one fireplace.
*Duration is typically 2 hours.
*$50 off if during our inspection we determine a sweeping isn't needed.
*Additional Fireplace/Stove: Discounted rate of $149
Level 1 inspections for our repeat clients. If your appliance or venting system has not changed and you plan to use your system as you have in the past, then a level 1 inspection is a minimum requirement. A level 1 inspection is recommended for a chimney under continued service, under the same conditions, and with the continued use of the same appliance.
*Level 1 inspection and a Sweeping.
*Level 1 inspections Include the Appliance or Fireplace, Flue and Chimney. Camera inspections are required with Level 2 inspections, however we use them in our Level 1 inspections as well, for your comfort and safety.
*Price includes Inspection of one chimney and one fireplace.
*Duration is typically 1.5 hours
*$50 off if during our inspection we determine a sweeping isn't needed.
During our inspection, there is a chance that we might find something wrong with your system. We will show you exactly what we find and tell you the best way to remedy the situation. Whether we do the repairs, or we refer a different company that might specialize in something that we don't, we will give you options!
We get called nearly every day to assess a homeowner's chimney. Most of the time it's because bricks have come loose and are just sitting on the roof. The next most common call is because the homeowner is having water drip in their fireplace or they see water marks in the ceiling above the fireplace. Let us come out to your place, get on your roof, and come up with a solution for you.
Whether it's preventative maintenance, small fixes, relining your chimney, or tearing down/rebuilding an entire chimney, we simply can't name a price as every home and appliance is different.
Unfortunately, prices of materials are going through the roof (pun intended). Hopefully supply chains start to work out the kinks and inflation levels out here soon. With that being said, if you would like an estimate on repairs, we take the time to gather updated prices and will email an estimate to you
I honestly wish it were that easy. There are so many variables that factor into an estimate. Do we need multiple workers? How about access, will we need scaffolding, or maybe a lift? Will it take us an hour or a couple of weeks? Cost of materials in this highly volatile climate?
If we find that repairs are needed after our Inspection or Consultation, we will email over an estimate that is broken down for you line by line.
Question: Above you stated $50 off if after doing the inspection it was determined a sweep isn't needed. Why is the sweep portion so cheap, only $50?
Answer: The sweeping portion is normally the easy part. Anyone can run a brush up and down a chimney!
Question: Can you just sweep my chimney and not do the NFPA 211 inspection you mentioned above?
Answer: Definitely not! For many reasons! Think of it like going to the dentist; in addition to them cleaning your teeth they do a thorough examination to make sure there are no issues. If they don't look for problems, they won't find them. For example a cavity, it will get worse as time passes if it's not found. But if found at the earliest opportunity, it's typically an easy fix.
We also do everything by the book. So if the NFPA, CSIA, NCSG, and NFI all say that chimneys and fireplaces should be inspected annually and swept if necessary, this will be our minimum standard.
Question: Yikes, my chimney has stage 3 creosote. Now what?
Answer: If during our inspection we found this level of creosote, we will show you all of the pictures taken and figure out the best plan of attack. Stage 3 creosote normally needs another visit for a chemical application followed by a sweep a few days after that. Depending on the condition of the chimney, it might be best to remove the internals of the chimney altogether and reline it. Every situation is different though and is taken case by case. YOU make the ultimate decision though on what you would like done.
This may be true, however, this is only relative to a Chimney Sweep that just runs a brush up your chimney, hands you a carbon copy piece of paper, and runs out the door. That is NOT the way we do it here at Boise Chimney. We take our time and analyze every square inch of your chimney and appliance.
We are an open book and admit- our pricing is a little higher than some of our competitors. This is because we do business differently! We are constantly updating our equipment so that we can serve you best, we regularly take online courses, and we go to in-person trainings around the country to sharpen our skills. Check out our facebook page as we often post about our latest training events. We have the mindset of never settle and always get better!
Give us a call so we can show you how we take safety to the next level, have the professionalism and courtesy you deserve, and the knowledge and competence that the chimney and fireplace industry needs.
